Prolonged periods of extreme heat also known as heatwaves are a growing concern in a changing climate. Kiswendsida Guigma, A PhD Student from University of Sussex, UK will be discussing their research upon the physics of heatwaves in the West African Sahel region, exploring their  characteristics and predictability at the weather and intra-seasonal scales, and how such information can be utilized for  early action and reducing risk across the region.
