PERIPERI U TALKS: REVIEWING RECENT EXPERIENCES OF ASSESSING EFFECTS AND IMPACTS OF COVID-19

Date: 08 Apr 2021 to: 08 Apr 2021

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

You are invited to attend the first session of the PERIPERI U Talks: Disaster Risk Discussions and Debate Web series.

The first session will be hosted By Dr Ricardo Zapata-Martí who will be presenting on

"REVIEWING RECENT EXPERIENCES OF ASSESSING EFFECTS AND IMPACTS OF COVID-19".

Dr Ricardo Zapata-Martí will discuss his recent experiences in assessing Covid-19 effects and impacts, while providing some personal reflections on lessons that the pandemic provided. He will reflect upon the three-fold pandemic costs in human loss of lives, economic decline and welfare losses which clearly point to an advocacy for reinforced global cooperation and compliance with the climate change adaptation and mitigation agenda. Dr Zapata-Martí will discuss the challenges of a post-pandemic “normality”, as well as the opportunity they provide to "reset" into a better, more resilient paradigm in which the long promoted yet not sufficiently implemented agendas of resilient climate change adaptation and mitigation become more relevant than ever before.
