Makere University (est. 1922) is one of the oldest and largest Universities in East Africa and home to some 35000 students from across the region. The University’s Alumina is made up of many Post-independence African leaders as well as many prominent African writers. Makere University’s Department of Community Health and Behavioural Studies offers a variety of activities concerned with public health issues which include tertiary education programmes, professional short courses, research, government coordinated initiatives and service projects to numerous communities. The department undertakes various researches in the areas of population and reproductive health, and health care services in emergencies. The partners also serve as a consultant for the Ugandan Government as well as the institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp. |
